This amazing French Chauchat machine gun is being sold on consignment. It dates to 1915 and has matching serial numbers on the upper tube and lower rails. Looks to be 100% complete, with all internal parts accounted for as well.
Overall in excellent working condition. It has not yet fired by the current owner, but he plans to function test it shortly to ensure serviceability. It seems to dry-function just fine, with all parts actuating as designed as far as we know. These are rather complicated guns and there may be adjustments we do not know about.
The exterior has some very light old corrosion in a few spots, but otherwise the bluing is in very good condition. The wood shoulder stock and wood foregrip look to be crack-free, and show some signs of use but also beautiful wood grain. The magazine release, bipod, and take-down levers all seem to function.
This offering also comes with two books: "Honor Bound" and "Manual of the automatic rifle (Chauchat) drill". Quintessential books for the Chauchat owner.
